Aaron McCready

I hail from:
Tahoe City, CA

But I am most at home:
Anywhere in the forest among my friends, the trees.

I pay my bills by:
Operating Shokunin Product Design, a firm centered on product design consulting for bike and outdoor brands.

I never leave home without:
a Porlex grinder and coffee beans, because I know what I like and I like coffee.

My three favorite pieces of Kitsbow kit are:
Alpha jacket, merino ride tee, and Coleman Valley Bibs.

I love them because:
I feel comfortable in them in almost all temperatures. Once I put them on I don't need to take them off.

You see this scar? I got this when I:
My scars have scars. If I had to pick one, it would be the one on my right cheek from when I was 8 and fell off a chair and stabbed my face with a pencil. That incident taught me nothing and I still run around with sharp things daily.

The closest I ever came to dying was:
After a long, dusty ride with friends, I was walking out on a railroad trestle to jump into the river below and cool off. We were taking our time because we were so blasted after the ride. When we were about 30 feet above some sharp rocks, but not over the water yet, a train came around the bend and gave us 2 seconds to decide what to do. I ended sitting on the edge of a railroad tie and leaning as far away from the tracks as possible, and praying I wasn't going to get hit. No lives were lost that day, and after getting wet we toasted to both the ride and just being alive!

The closest I’ve been to complete and profound enlightenment was:
Eating pancakes and bacon in the morning. Bacon is the world's oldest superfood and can power hours of riding. Pancakes are totally keto and I'm all about that. The good vibes I get from a morning breakfast session elevates my mindset to galactic status.

My favorite place to ride (that I am willing to tell you about) is:
Nelson, BC

My favorite secret spot is:
It is near Lake Tahoe...we can meet on a night with a full moon. You bring beer and no lights, and I'll show you the way.

If I ever won an Oscar, my 10-word speech would go like this:
Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes. Thanks.

Lastly, shout out to:
my wife Aubrey, because she is the best partner in crime and loves to go fast!
