Andy Rigel

I hail from:
Poland, Ohio, but have called Seattle, Washington home for enough years that I’m more “local” than half the current population.

But I am most at home:
In my camper van searching for an outdoor adventure in a remote corner of the Pacific Northwest.

I pay my bills by:
Working hard as an environmental lawyer and otherwise helping clients solve their most challenging problems.

I never leave home without:
My house keys, because as much I like being away, I love my home and family.

My three favorite pieces of Kitsbow kit are:
Trials Jacket, Delta Tee, and all three of my Icon shirts.

I love them because:
Each piece is functionally built, the epitome of style, and make my ride better.

You see this scar? I got this when I:
Crashed on my face during a XC race and my eyewear was impaled in my face.

The closest I ever came to dying was:
A very, very close encounter with a momma bear and her two cubs during an otherwise amazing solo mountain bike ride in Whistler.

The closest I’ve been to complete and profound enlightenment was:
While on a long ride into the high alpine. The air is cool and crisp, there is an aroma of conifer, and the trail creates a spark of imagination that can only come from being disconnected from daily life.

My favorite place to ride (that I am willing to tell you about) is:
Raging River just outside Seattle. A world-class trail system within 30 minutes of downtown, yet you feel like you are in the backcountry. Plus, the view of Mt. Rainer makes the big climb worth the effort. (Sorry for the literal answer, but great rides should be shared and not kept a secret).

If I ever won an Oscar, my 10-word speech would go like this:
I can’t believe someone actually put me in a movie.

Lastly, shout out to:
My amazing wife and daughter.

Because:
Those two girls are awe inspiring and make me smile every day.

Andy spends a large amount of time managing Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance and pursuing their mission to make Washington the best place to ride. In his "spare" time, he is out riding the trails he advocates for, prepping for races big and small and getting out on the NW’s best trail systems as much as he can. He will have ridden in Bend, Oakridge, Bellingham, Hood River, Leavenworth, Squamish, Hood River, North Van, and Whistler before the summer is done. And he’ll be wearing and evangelizing for Kitsbow along the way. Ask him for a discount code if you see him on the trail...
