But I am most at home:
Blue Ridge Mountains
I pay my bills by:
Operating my bicycle tour company called Velo Girl Rides
I never leave home without:
My gravel bike and my dog, Tyler
My three favorite pieces of Kitsbow kit are:
Womens' A/M Jersey, Women's SS Jacket, Women's Short Sleeve A/M Jersey
I love them because:
I love owning high quality cycling gear that lasts for multiple seasons. I use all three pieces when guiding tours along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The SS Jacket is perfect for cool mornings and evenings in the Blue Ridge Mountains. As the day heats up, I prefer the light breathability of the Short Sleeve A/M jersey. On cooler days and when directing cycling events, my go-to jersey is the Women's A/M. Made of Merino wool, it's perfect for staying warm and looking professional.
You see this scar? I got this when I:
A long, long time ago, I crashed my mountain bike coming into the bike/canoe transition area at the New River Trail Challenge in Virginia. I recovered (after letting some colorful language fly), jumped in my canoe, rowed 12 miles and then ran 13 miles to place as the second female. The blood on my leg made my injury look worse than it was and my leg was featured in the promo video for the race. My scar reminds me of this epic day on the bike.
The closest I ever came to dying was:
I was riding past Puckett Cabin on the Blue Ridge Parkway when a motorist decided to pass me despite the oncoming traffic. There was a moment when I thought that the driver was going to hit me, but she narrowly squeaked past. Justice was served promptly...the oncoming vehicle was that of a park ranger. Lights, sirens, ticket!
The closest I’ve been to complete and profound enlightenment was:
In my beautiful, peaceful, welcoming yoga studio in Black Mountain NC
My favorite place to ride (that I am willing to tell you about) is:
The Blue Ridge Parkway from milepost zero to milepost 470
Lastly, shout out to:
