Taking Care Of The Important Places

Taking Care Of The Important Places

October 18, 2016

As we move into the colder months, the Kitsbow crew has been reflecting on the good times we’ve had this riding season. The joy, the camaraderie, the outstanding dirt, the desert, the mountains, the beer. With that, we remember what makes it all possible. The trails we ride take us through these extraordinary journeys. Without access to them, we stick to the road. Kitsbow Ambassador, Pete Thomas, recently shared some photos of riding along northwest Montana’s Whitefish Divide. The ridge ride, connecting Werner Peak to Red Meadow via the Ralph Thayer Memorial Trail, is a serene piece of singletrack [...]

Adventure IS Out There – Pete Thomas

Adventure IS Out There – Pete Thomas

September 15, 2016

Although we often romanticize exotic trails in distant locales, the best adventures are often found right outside the back door. This is especially true for Kitsbow Ambassador Pete Thomas, who hails from the recreation wonderland of Whitefish, Montana.   “It’s a good day. A spur-of-the-moment opportunity to go ride just came out of the blue. But with all the two-wheeled options, choice paralysis has got the best of me. Clock ticking and head spinning, my brain starts to process tire widths, air pressure, tackiness of the dirt, available buddies, overall mood, etc., like a math problem. I force myself [...]

The Insider Series – The ‘Swamp’ Science of Developing Product

The Insider Series – The ‘Swamp’ Science of Developing Product

September 12, 2016

Product planning is kind of part science, part keeping your eyes open. It doesn’t always happen the same way… Sometimes, a new product need is so obvious, it’s hardly worth committing the idea to a formal brief.   Such was the case with our first product, the SSAM Short. We knew what we wanted it to be, how we wanted it to fit – we wanted it ourselves. Other times, you’ve got data and feedback that clearly tell you the product should be blue, slightly larger, $134.99, and available in 6 sizes. But other times, a new product idea [...]

Ride Fast, Look Faster

May 05, 2016

Marshall Eames is notorious for rocking the brightest kit on the trails. When you’re as fast as Marsh, you get a pass to wear pretty much whatever you want. The man doesn’t really do subtlety, nor does he go slow. He is a trail assassin, guiding that Kalimotxo-colored trail weapon with deadly accuracy. We recently managed to catch #EnduroJesus in action, keeping it fully pinned but precise in our classic Ride Tee in a new hi-viz colorway that looks quick no matter who’s wearing it.

Introducing the Alpha Snap Jacket

February 18, 2015

An insulated jacket is essential in any person’s wardrobe. The Alpha Snap Jacket is our take on this go-to garment for when the mercury falls… To make a jacket that worked equally well on- and off-the-bike we melded the highest performance materials with our urban, clean-lined style and tailored fit. The core of the Alpha Snap Jacket is insulation developed for the United States Special Forces – Polartec® Alpha – an advancement in adaptable, breathable insulation. Alpha’s “magic” comes from it’s ability to breathe and efficiently transport moisture without sacrificing durability, while continuing to perform after heavy wear and repeated laundering. [...]

#Wornin

January 15, 2015

Zander Nosler, Founder of Kitsbow Mountain Bike Wear shares his unique perspective on quality and products standing the test of time. There are a few products in my life (mostly in the #EveryDayCarry genre) that have just gotten better with age. My iPhone, my pocket knife, and my denim. Yeah, that’s right, my iphone. I’m pretty careful with that ridiculously useful piece of tech, but I don’t put it in a case, either. And the iPhone 5 is the first iPhone that took a patina of use with some grace. For that reason, it’s my favorite iPhone they’ve designed. Minor [...]

Obsessives Profile: Like the Perfect Pour

July 08, 2014

Dylan Stucki, Durango, Colorado Countless hours of passion are released with the pour of a fresh craft beer, a refined and humble work of art that is an expression of a simple pleasure. A great beer embodies a sense of freedom and escape from the mundane. For the same reason I love a great beer, I reach for Kitsbow when heading to the trails. An appreciation for the finer things – the handmade and passionate – distinguish the obsessives. Always searching for perfection and guarding the details, Kitsbow’s cycling apparel is composed of the finest selection of fabrics, tailored to fit, and mindfully crafted. I ride to [...]

Kitsbow Basics: Don’t Call it a Hat

June 30, 2014

Ever since former Bicycling magazine editor-in-chief, Bill Strickland, put bicyclists on notice with the hashtag #capsnothats, a movement has been bubbling online (and more importantly, off) to bring the cycling cap back to prominence. And while we have no problem with the trucker, flat-brimmed, or snapback varieties (in fact, they are COMING SOON), Kitsbow supports Mr. Strickland’s predilection to the traditional cycling cap. On and off the bike, it says to the world, “I’m a bike rider.” So show ‘em. Purchase here.
