Sometimes the opportunity to ride presents itself in cooler temps. So we decided to utilize this amazing material in our first long sleeve merino henley.
The bi-component knit construction of this merino wool uses a different yarn on either side of the fabric, creating the optimal hybrid for athletic endeavors and maximal comfort. Ultra-fine Merino wool next to the skin provides warmth even when wet; highly breathable, wool excels at moving moisture in a vapor state.
The outer synthetic fabric ensures perspiration dries quickly and adds durability. Temperature regulating features of wool allow it to comfortably be worn in any weather. The versatile fabric makes this a piece that can be worn alone or as a baselayer while mountain biking or during any athletic pursuit.
"It features a 3-snap henley style collar, merino wool/polyester blend for durability and odor control, and is flat stitched to keep chaffing and irritation at bay. The blend of fibers is woven so that the wool is next to skin, and the polyester layer is on the outside of the garment where it evaporates off more readily. It's a sweet shirt that's stylish enough to head to the bar with after a ride and not look like a dweeb or knock anyone over with B.O. thanks to the odor control of the Merino fibers."
"Kitsbow is a respected mountain bike apparel company that values style along with function. The Power Wool base layer will keep your outdoorsman warm and dry in a variety of conditions."
"Merino on the inside of this top bumps up the warmth on chilly days, and the fabric on the face spirits away moisture. It’s also insulating, despite the thin-as-a-T-shirt feel. The cut is a touch large, so size down if you plan on layering."
Gear is essential to any successful adventure. But the best gear is the stuff you forget you’re wearing because it’s working so damn well. Consider that achieved with my Escalator Merino Henley. Running, climbing, cycling, chilling, and everything in between are all primed for this piece. It’s now part of my essential kit as a foundational item, regardless of what I’m planning.
This the second Escalator Merino Henley I've purchased. The first was amazing and unfortunately chewed on by a mouse during a trip to the Chilcotins. It is the perfect Fall, Spring, and Winter shirt. I'll wear it alone on cool morning rides or as a layer during the Winter. It wicks very well and stays warm when wet. I typically wear a medium in most brands bu this is "performance" fit and I wear a large. I'm 5'9" with an athletic build. Overall, wonderful top on the bike or in town. I would definitely recommend and order a third!
I absolutely love this shirt, I only have 3 of them and just purchased the crew neck version, just as sweet! The shirt does run just a tad small, I traditionally wear a large, and do have one of these in a large, but find the XL a bit more comfortable.
This is a great all-around shirt, works for on and off the bike. It is very comfortable - warm and cozy but not sweaty. It will be great for cool mornings on the bike but also for hiking and just hanging out. The snaps are a nice feature - you can get a bit of air if you need it and they give the shirt a nice look. I took it on Cycle Oregon this year (one of the wettest ever) and slept in it every night, with my Icon shirt - it was that cold! Versatile shirts like this are great for cycle touring so for sure this will be in my bags for our next trip. I ordered an XS as it's a Men's and it fits me fine (usually wear a Women's M). I purchased the Oxblood Heather first and then purchased another one in Black Heather - gotta grab it when you find something that works!
Better than expected. Worked well off the bike as I thought it would but riding it was great as well. The weight was just right for a lite long sleeve but it also worked as a great base layer. The snaps give it sporty look and the lack of smell with wool means you can wear it to dinner, even after a ride - if you dare.
