Sometimes the opportunity to ride presents itself in chillier temps. So we decided to utilize this amazing material in our first long sleeve merino crew neck shirt.
The bi-component knit construction of this merino wool uses a different yarn on either side of the fabric, creating the optimal hybrid for athletic endeavors and maximal comfort. Ultra-fine Merino wool next to the skin provides warmth even when wet; highly breathable, wool excels at moving moisture in a vapor state.
The outer synthetic fabric ensures perspiration dries quickly and adds durability. Temperature regulating features of wool allow it to comfortably be worn in any weather. The versatile fabric makes this a piece that can be worn alone or as a baselayer while mountain biking or during any athletic pursuit.
"It features a 3-snap henley style collar, merino wool/polyester blend for durability and odor control, and is flat stitched to keep chaffing and irritation at bay. The blend of fibers is woven so that the wool is next to skin, and the polyester layer is on the outside of the garment where it evaporates off more readily. It's a sweet shirt that's stylish enough to head to the bar with after a ride and not look like a dweeb or knock anyone over with B.O. thanks to the odor control of the Merino fibers."
"Kitsbow is a respected mountain bike apparel company that values style along with function. The Power Wool base layer will keep your outdoorsman warm and dry in a variety of conditions."
"Merino on the inside of this top bumps up the warmth on chilly days, and the fabric on the face spirits away moisture. It’s also insulating, despite the thin-as-a-T-shirt feel. The cut is a touch large, so size down if you plan on layering."
Well designed, great fit- glad to see Kitsbow seems to have fixed the sometimes unusual sizing- in some as a long torsoed 6'1" 180 pounder I'm an XXL- in these I'm a solid XL with room to layer this over a tshirt. Long sleeves and a long torso make this a great cooler weather item
As somebody who has a great deal of chest hair, I don't rock the henley very often, so when I saw that Kitsbow had created a crewneck of their Escalator, I immediately jumped on it. Gotta say: It's awesome. It feels great against the skin and the fit is just impeccable. Keep bringin' it Kitsbow. You guys never let me down.
Spring is always a tricky time for figuring out what to wear on early morning and late evening rides. My general preference, these days, is to avoid wearing a pack when possible. So, with no place to store additional layers, I choose gear that will keep me comfortable through a range of temperatures and the Escalator Merino Crewneck has become my go-to top! In addition to being comfortable and breathable, the cut is also quite flattering! On evenings where the Escalator isn't going to keep me warm on it's own, I pair it with one of the Kitsbow vests. I got the Oxblood Heather version and I find the color to contrast nicely with the Ultra Navy Masterlink Shorts. Anyway, the Escalator is of the usual Kitsbow quality and I can't recommend it enough. Get one and be stoked!
