Our Essplanade Shirt is made for movement on and off the bike. The Essplanade includes easy-open snaps for cooling with short sleeves that help get the job done. This is hardly an iteration of the Icon shirt, yet it is truly inspired by one of the pieces we've come to be known for. The Essplanade shares many of the same features our customers have grown to love about the Icon Shirt.
We used the same quality buttons and ventilation across the back, then tossed our signature stash pocket on the rear, and obsessed over designing the Essplanade to be our go-to short-sleeve button up.
Using an engineered blend of fibers, this shirt maintains the comfort of cotton while allowing for the benefits of synthetics. The Essplanade Shirt keeps the body cooler, drier and more comfortable than a shirt with all natural fibers.
With vintage-style plaid cues from our Pendleton ombre plaids, we're excited to present the Essplanade Shirt for the months where you want a short sleeve, but still need some buttons.
Big Kitsbow fan and I have (2) Essplanade shirts. The first one I purchased was a Killington Blue. The fabric is 85% poly and 15% cotton. The feel was great; felt like an all cotton shirt. Nice and soft. So I then jumped on a Cedar Oxford shirt. Fabric is still 85% poly and 15% cotton BUT the shirt feels like plastic. Not soft at all and somewhat stiff, almost scratchy to wear. Sticks to my arms when they are sweaty. So, I thought maybe a good wash would change that, but nope, no change. So, bottom line, I really like the shirt but there is a significant difference in the fabric between the Killington/Providence (I have a Backforty in Providence Grey) and the Cedar Oxford. Not a fan of the latter. Also, agree with another reviewer that the shoulders of this garment seem to run a little small compared to the torso (tighter shoulders and looser bottom). If you size for your shoulders you should have plenty of room around your belly.
Not sure who comes up with these shirts and designs but you have another hit on your hands. Material is great; fit is even better and feel is perfect. The details, as usual are unique and classy yet sporty. Keep up the great work!
Great looking riding shirt. Seems maybe a little tight around shoulders/biceps for me (other Kitsbow shirts have fit perfect) but otherwise works well. 6’3” 185 lbs size Large.
I was excited to see Kitsbow released a short sleeve button-down and immediately jumped on the chance to get the Providence Grey (white-ish) one. I ended up on an impromptu mountain bike ride and didn't hesitate to test this shirt on the trail. The snaps are super easy to remove with one hand while riding, and the rear storage pocket is clutch for my debit card / trail cash. I ended up getting my white-tee a little more dirty than anticipated, so I was a little nervous when it came time to pull the Essplanade out of the wash (I hang dry most of my clothes, so this thing didn't see the dryer). To my surprise, the Providence Grey stayed true. I was expecting a Providence Brown after my muddy trail session. It even felt a little more soft after the wash. Go Kitsbow! Separately, I must admit that my broad shoulders have been an issue with the 'Kitsbow fit' before. I wear a Medium Icon, I am 6' and weigh roughly 165lbs. I put on the Medium Essplanade and felt some resistance at the shoulder. After trying on a Large, I didn't find much difference in the shoulder, but there was quite a difference in the torso size. The large looked like a pillowcase. So I stuck with the medium. Although it is a little slim in the shoulders (I have relatively broad shoulders for my build) I like the function and design of this shirt. Just add the Icon V2 style shoulder gussets and I'll be in love!
