Really great product but …
So these arrived the other day. My first impression was that these shorts will last a lifetime. They construction is superb and superior to any shorts I have ever seen. They are a little on the heavy side - something I’m not used to in my other shorts. These are great if you’re really putting your shorts through the wringer on a regular basis. But I am not so I was happy to see the lighter Haskell shorts become available. I used the awesome exchange “program” on the Kitsbow site and evenly traded them for the lighter version. It really is quite nice being able to do that. Incredible company.
Very high quality product
I was so pleased to receive these shorts. I really like the Kitsbow shirts, but had not previously experienced their shorts or pants. As soon as I opened the box, I was struck by the high quality of materials and craftsmanship. In fact, I got online and ordered another pair in another color.
A couple of years in, I wore them on a 2 month trip in Costa Rica and their still like new
I bought these shorts a couple years ago (back when Kitsbow moved out of NorCal) on clearance and they're my favorite riding shorts so they get worn more than my other pairs. We just took a trip to Costa Rica and I brought them and because I was packing light I only had 3 pairs of shorts total for 2 months, wearing them several days a week and (mostly) hand washing in between. They were comfortable, dried fast, and look great. My wife asked me if I bought a new pair as she hadn't seen me wear them off the bike. Sure they're expensive, but they're quality and they last. My only "complaint" is they're a bit heavy on the hottest days when you're really exerting yourself so if the temps are pushing 90+ I'll go for lighter fabric. Fully recommend.
I have never liked the longer-cut MTB shorts. The Haskell 8" fit (me) perfectly. More like a traditional pair of shorts in the way they fit around the waist, and the shorter length is my preference so I'm stoked with this product. Stretchiness is a sweet touch. Two rides with these shorts and I scraped them on a log and a rock (including a little bloodshed...**** happens). They're bomb proof. Looking forward to another pair in a different color. Oh, you can even wear them when your not riding on the trail and they look great!
Best shorts to walk the earth
I want to clarify that I actually don't own these shorts yet... But my order is on the way. I needed to borrow a pair of shorts while filming in the Sierras, and my friend made the mistake of lending me his Haskell's. They were so comfortable that I refused to take them off for an entire week in the case that he would want them back. When I finally returned them, I made take a whiff and was expecting him to maybe gag a bit. Instead, he described a hint of lavender, probably from the detergent he had used a week prior. These shorts are invincible and I can't wait for mine.
