The Kitchel started with a need for a functionally simple, minimal feeling glove especially for hot weather. It evolved to become a glove with maximum feel for the handlebar, but “fade away” once underway, with no binding, no hot spots, almost as if it weren’t there. The Kitchel inspires confidence and control.
Our customers told us that it needed to be tough and literally handle the stress of hard use, staying put on the wrist and protecting from abrasion from trees and brush on the trail. The close-fit wrist cuff provides security and keeps in place, but isn’t noticeable when you start to ride. Vent holes provide aeration; a flash of Kitsbleu marks these as Kitsbow gear.
Mechanix Wear tapped their huge expertise in professional work gloves to strike the balance we specified.
Overall, the gloves are very breathable and grip the handlebars nicely. I hate ordering gloves online, nearly as much as I dislike replacing my riding gloves every 6 months. I’m hoping these live up to the usual Kitsbow quality. The fit is small and snug. The cuff is almost impossible to get my hand into. These gloves would greatly benefit from either a looser opening, or a Velcro style closure. It should be noted that I typically fall somewhere between a medium and large glove size. I ordered the medium. These fit a little on the smaller side and I’m hoping for some stretching.
Gloves felt great and have good handlebar feel. Material is not too thick. They are a little hard to get on but once over knuckles they slide into place. After more use this may get better. Only wore them 4 times. Great feeling glove!
Out of the box, these appear to be the premium glove that one would expect from Kitsbow. However, following my first ride- a 2.5 mile work commute- I looked down to see that a small tear had appeared on the base of the palm. Near, but not on, a seam. Fearing that this did not bode well for the duarbility of the glove in the long (or near) term, I returned them for a refund.
These are everything I want from a glove, I can’t think of anything I would change.
These gloves are solid for light duty riding. Mine split in the palm after 3 or 4 rides but Kitsbow was great and replaced them. Very comfortable. Would recommend sizing up as they are really tight at the wrist.
