The Kitchel started with a need for a functionally simple, minimal feeling glove especially for hot weather. It evolved to become a glove with maximum feel for the handlebar, but “fade away” once underway, with no binding, no hot spots, almost as if it weren’t there. The Kitchel inspires confidence and control.
Our customers told us that it needed to be tough and literally handle the stress of hard use, staying put on the wrist and protecting from abrasion from trees and brush on the trail. The close-fit wrist cuff provides security and keeps in place, but isn’t noticeable when you start to ride. Vent holes provide aeration; a flash of Kitsbleu marks these as Kitsbow gear.
Mechanix Wear tapped their huge expertise in professional work gloves to strike the balance we specified.
First off I have give huge props to Kitsbow CSR that I talked with. I had ordered the heavy weight gloves while they z zzz were on sale. Ordered what I thought would have been my right size by measurements but they were too large. Contacted CS about an exchange and they said no problem. But then realized they were sold out. I asked about switching to the Kitchel Gloves. They said no problem and shipped them that day. And picked up the shipping of the new one and the return shipment. Just wow. Now the gloves. Of course they are awesome. They were a little on the tight side when first pulling them on but after one ride they fee perfect. I normally don’t like a pad on the palm but it disappears while wearing these. The terry cloth on the index finger and and back of the hand is great for sweat. The thick cuff catches sweat without soaking the rest of the glove. The thin leather like material has terrific feel for controls. I have yet to crash with them but I respect they will hold up just fine.
Nice glove made with high end materials. I followed the sizing chart and ordered a medium, and the glove is tight. In fact, I can barely get my palm through the wrist of the glove as the wrist is incredibly narrow. But once on, it feels pretty good yet snug. I don't think I would want a larger size, as the palm padding would end up in the wrong place. Even on the medium which fits on the small side, the palm padding is too large and encoraches up towards my pinkie finger somewhat limiting my ability to bend my palm off the bike. On the plus side, the glove works perfectly on my phone touch screen. Not sure if I would purchase again
Very happy with the fit, finish, and feel of these. They also work on phone screens which is rad.
The Kitchel Gloves get it done. I've worn them on the bike, and straight into a mountain run, using them to scramble over rocks and tough terrain. Ventilation could be a touch better - they seem to retain moisture, but this is due to the tough natural materials, so you win big on durability. The light blue accents and K patch differentiate these from the standard black glove, which is nice.
The wide variety of sizes is nice to get the fit dialed. Once on the gloves really disappear and I don’t think about ‘em til the come off at the end of the ride. No annoying seams, loose running areas and so forth.
