Finally, a flannel shirt jacket that is designed for the woman who rides hard on the trail, and wants a fitted look back in town. Classy, warm, durable and stocked with features only a rider can appreciate.
Most flannels really just hang on the body, and don't quite offer a trim fit -- instead the shirt is cut in a block shape. Our classic Icon is fit for the athletic form of the rider, and this version is specifically formed for the female silhouette.
The cut isn't the only difference here. The Icon Shirt for Women uses Pendleton's super fine merino wool for a flattering drape on the body, and softer feel in the hand. Designed not only for high-output activity on the bike, but all-day comfort throughout the day.
This Icon is still function-first for life on two wheels, with articulated shoulder vents, stretch gussets, subtle reflective hits, cuff openings, Schoeller®-shape 3XDRY abrasion panels, and the signature natural benefits of authentic American Pendleton wool. Hand-sewn in California & North Carolina, and constructed for a lifetime of adventure.
Some women may prefer the 'block fit' of the original Icon, especially as a layering option.
"I first bought the Kitsbow Icon in 2014 and out of all my apparel, both on and off the bike, it’s become a staple. As soon as the temps drop, it becomes my go-to mountain bike or bike touring jacket. I’ve taken spills, experienced thrills and everything in between with it...My point is, the Kitsbow Icon is the best flannel I’ve ever owned and there’s nothing I’d change about it."
"Trust me, I’m not one to recommend a riding shirt that costs $195 unless it’s good. Really good. Hand on heart, I wore the Pendleton wool Icon every day for 9 weeks solid – often at high altitude – in Ecuador and Peru. I washed in once… and it still looks absolutely brand new. I’m a creature of habit; the Icon has become my go to shirt, whether on tour, riding trails, or in a coffee shop. "
At first I was hesitant on this shirt, it looks great, but is it worth the cost? It's worth every penny. The attention to detail and versatility of the shirt make it my go to Winter/chilly cycling item. I've been caught out in the cold rain on training rides for hours wearing this, with a merino base layer underneath, and I was comfortable. For really cold rides, I pair it with a long sleeve wool base, the icon shirt and a shell on the outside. The wool layers moderate heat well and are able to absorb any sweat from hard efforts, so you're not getting chilled when you ease off the gas or rip down a decent. I'm 5'2" 120 lbs and the xs fits perfect.
If you can afford to spend over $200 on a shirt, you won't be disappointed with this one. The merino wool material is so soft, you would never think it is wool--so even if you're a person sensitive to scratchy materials, it shouldn't bother you at all. It feels good on the skin. I am 5'4" and 125 lbs, 34A, 27 inch waist, very triangle-shaped with broad and muscular shoulders for my size. I first ordered a size small, since most of my shirts are small. I could not even snap the front of the shirt. I sent it back and got a size medium, and while it is on the smaller, very fitted side, I kept it. I can wear it over thin t-shirts. If it didn't have the (very cool!) mobile shoulder feature, I could not wear a medium. If I wanted to wear it at all like a "jacket" or lose at all, I would have needed a large. Once you get the right size, you will love this shirt. Oh, the exchange was as smooth and quick as could be!
What can I say? This is the fifth Icon shirt in my family: me and my wife are in love with the Icon. The shirt is perfect for our rides and for going to the pub. Quality, fit and design are the best we have ever experienced. Very, very confy. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Kitsbow is our favorite bike apparel company. Support Kitsbow, it’s a little gem.
So comfortable and perfect fit to be active!
Purchased as a gift. She loves her icon and now we match. Her only complaint is that she would like it to be a bit more roomier. A relaxed fit for women if you will.
