Finally, a flannel shirt jacket that is designed for the woman who rides hard on the trail, and wants a fitted look back in town. Classy, warm, durable and stocked with features only a rider can appreciate.
Most flannels really just hang on the body, and don't quite offer a trim fit -- instead the shirt is cut in a block shape. Our classic Icon is fit for the athletic form of the rider, and this version is specifically formed for the female silhouette.
The cut isn't the only difference here. The Icon Shirt for Women uses Pendleton's super fine merino wool for a flattering drape on the body, and softer feel in the hand. Designed not only for high-output activity on the bike, but all-day comfort throughout the day.
This Icon is still function-first for life on two wheels, with articulated shoulder vents, stretch gussets, subtle reflective hits, cuff openings, Schoeller®-shape 3XDRY abrasion panels, and the signature natural benefits of authentic American Pendleton wool. Hand-sewn in California, and constructed for a lifetime of adventure.
Some women may prefer the 'block fit' of the original Icon, especially as a layering option.
"I first bought the Kitsbow Icon in 2014 and out of all my apparel, both on and off the bike, it’s become a staple. As soon as the temps drop, it becomes my go-to mountain bike or bike touring jacket. I’ve taken spills, experienced thrills and everything in between with it...My point is, the Kitsbow Icon is the best flannel I’ve ever owned and there’s nothing I’d change about it."
"Trust me, I’m not one to recommend a riding shirt that costs $195 unless it’s good. Really good. Hand on heart, I wore the Pendleton wool Icon every day for 9 weeks solid – often at high altitude – in Ecuador and Peru. I washed in once… and it still looks absolutely brand new. I’m a creature of habit; the Icon has become my go to shirt, whether on tour, riding trails, or in a coffee shop. "
I like the overall fit and performance of the icon shirt. It's good for chilly days and the wool breathes well. I got caught out in the pouring rain wearing this flannel with a wool base and I made it back home after 20 miles of rainy hail 50 degree weather and was fine, not chilled at all. The wool kept me warm even through it was soaking wet. It's also a great shirt for bikepacking as it easily transitions to camping/off the bike hiking excursions. I like it so much, I bought the other color. I am 5'2" 125lbs and the XS fit perfect.
I like all the details in this shirt, except I think the collar could be refined further. It seems a bit too big and old school. Size wise, at 5'6" and under 120lbs, I needed a size S. While the XS fit, the sleeves were too short for me and the fit a bit more snug than I prefer (to layer over something else).
I am thrilled to be the proud owner of this shirt. The attention to detail is phenomenal. The color combination is beautiful. I love everything about it. I purchsed size small. I measure 36" with an A-cup, it fits sung around my chest. If I was larger than an A-cup, I would order a size medium.
Beautifully tailored, feminine shaped. Sleeves long enough.
I love this shirt and the color (black) but as a curvier rider I'm pretty bummed about how narrow the shirt is through the hip. Tons of room (almost too much) through the arms and shoulders, but the hip is tooooo trim. I also had to sew in additional snaps to the cuff midway up so I could do a 1/4 sleeve roll up.
