I was pretty nervous buying a shirt from overseas, without first being able to try it on for size. I reached out to the Kitsbow team, and luckily the rep who answered my email was pretty much exactly my size (184cm + 84kg). The signature fit in medium is a perfect fit (as a shirt with a thin base-layer underneath). The detail of the shirt is incredible, as is the craftmanship which has gone into both the fabric and the overall garment. The ventilation when riding my bike is wonderful and you can feel the air channelling under the arms and out the clever shoulder vents. The snap buttons are another fantastic touch - I always seem to end up with loose button threads on other shirts. Won't be an issue here. Can't recall the last time I reviewed a product, let alone a piece of clothing. But more than happy to recommend this beautiful garment. I'm at the stage in life now where I aim to consume much less, but can choose more high quality. I know this shirt will last me a lifetime, and that makes me happy!
I just received my large Kitsbow Ikon shirt in Blue Jay Ombré. I love the new color. I was trying to hold out for the return of Warren Blue. I am 6 feet tall and weight 185lbs. I wear a 41/42 suit coat. I originally ordered a medium and it was too tight. The large fits good - not too tight or loose - enough room to move around. The shirt is well made and feels a bit heavier than the Mendocino Blue. The real test will be how the shirt performs on the GDMBR this fall. I would definitely consider sizing up. The tailored cut definitely runs small.
Let me preface this review by telling you that it took me a few YEARS to finally bite the bullet and order one up. Price was a big factor. It was $195 when I first got interested. That was way above my price range. Reading the glowing reviews and testimonials I knew this was a serious piece of clothing that should last decades. As time went by the price kept creeping up! When Kitsbow went to the built to order format I liked the fact that they were concerned about minimizing waste. (By this time the Icon cost $235.) I finally ordered it and received it 2 weeks ago. It took a while to get, probably due to the pandemic, but let me tell you that the construction, design and fit are top notch! I was a little concerned about the snaps, I thought they would not be as good as regular buttons, but I was wrong. They work very well and I could see them being easier to work when on the bike with gloves on. With all the Schoeller panels it looks like this shirt could take a beating out on the trail, but I almost feel like it's too nice of a shirt to take riding! The Articulated shoulder vents make mobility great and my giant Garmin watch fits easily under the cuff. Give me a bit more time to keep it nice like it is. I'm guessing I'll take it riding some day.
Love the details, quality fabric and craftsmanship. Love it!
So far I have liked the icon, I like the snap buttons and it feels like softer wool than a traditional pendleton wool shirt. So far I’ve used the shirt as a mid layer fly fishing and snowboarding-I’m sure it will be used on cool nights camping. I wasn’t real fond of waiting for 3 months to receive the shirt but it is a nice shirt so far. I haven’t seen any stitching starting to unthread and there is no flaws in the design of the shirt. The price point of it is on the high end, but I received a gift card as Christmas gift idea so it offset the cost, I will say even at the high price point, you can tell kitsbow emphasizes top quality construction of the shirt.
